Homeschool Plans for 2024-2025

I spent the last few weeks working diligently to get our next school year planned out! This next year we will have a 12th Grader, 8th Grader, Kindergartener and Preschooler. Our eldest graduated in 2022 and is in college. I don't like to waste time, so here we go!

UPDATE : Feel free to see what the original plan was below, but after deep thought, we made some changes. The little boys curricula didn't change too much, but there was a massive change to what we are doing for Brie and Everett [for middle and high school] Here is the updated plan if you'd like to view that.

Pre-School & Kindergarten

Main : We will either be using Lavenders Blue Kindergarten which is for ages 3-6 or we will be using the new curriculum being launched this year by Wondergarten. Both look excellent and are for the same age ranges. If you have not yet seen the Wondergarten IG Feed, it's pretty dreamy! She's a mom of 4 and her husband composes the music and does amazing chalk drawings!

Formed.org & Angel Studios : All things for our faith and proper child TV viewing. While we don't want our children watching copious amounts of television, there's a time and place for it in our home, we just want to be careful.

YouTube : David the Gnome Playlist,  Beatrix Potter Playlist,  The Good & The Beautiful's Preschool Song Playlist, Brambly Hedge, Grimm Fairy Tale Classics, Hans Christian Andersen The Fairytaler

Toy Makers Magic : I already have a membership with Toy Makers Magic so I can make waldorf toys affordably! I would like to get a sewing machine for some of the projects but she does such a great job on these tutorials where you can do it all by hand and she offers amazing tips on saving money and making beautiful heirloom toys for your children without breaking the bank.

The Alchemy Kids : This is a course that shows you how to teach your kindergartener some great handwork which preps them for waldorf first grade.

8th Grade

Main : Live Education Year 5. We already bought this for a previous school year so we already have it ready to go, but I got severely ill last year we couldn't finish it. My son is super stoked to get to finish this and we are even redoing a couple blocks that we enjoyed it so much! Blocks are : Geography, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Persia, Ancient Greek Mythology, Geometry, Botany, Ancient Mesopotamia and Ancient India.

Waldorfish : We needed some video assist for some blocks so for my son we will be using the Botany, Geometry, and Weekly Art - Diving Deeper. Now this is quite an investment, and as you'll see below, I'm purchasing six courses total. I emailed them because they offer customized bundles with excellent discounts! They send sample lessons for any of their course offerings which was super helpful for decision making. Art is once per week year long so we will do that on Friday's since we only do a 4 day school week.

Daily Wonder : Pentatonic Flute, we already have the Choroi Pentatonic Flute, so we just need to restart lessons.

Formed.org : for assisting with our faith studies along with anything else we would like to add. Faith is part of our life, not necessarily a school subject for us. Will also watch shows on Angel Studios.

** Everett will be back to using Denison in 9th grade using Algebra I Success.

12th Grade

Main : Live Education Year 6. We will beef this up as needed for her being in 12th grade but being familiar with Live Education, trust me this is more than enough. We will not be using all the blocks you see there, here are the ones we will be covering : Astronomy, Mineralogy, English Grammar for Upper Grades, Ancient Greek History, Ancient Roman History, Business Math & Economics [We will also cover Government and Constitution in this block]. Since this is a reusable curriculum, the other blocks will be used for my son the following school year.

Waldorfish & Earthschooling : Replacing the three blocks we aren't using for her from Live Education are, Botany [joining our eldest son], Chemistry 7 and Chemistry 8 and Weekly Art & Beyond. From Earthschooling, we will be using their Embryology course.

Denison Math : For math, Brie will be doing Denison's Algebra II Success track. She did the standard Geometry course and did incredible in it, but being that algebra is a bit more difficult for her and that Algebra II tends to be quite strenuous, we are going to slow it down a tad and use his Success track next year. It's actually made for those that struggle with math or have ADHD, Autism or Dyslexia. Brie is dyslexic so this is just perfect. It is hands down the BEST math available on the market - and we have used it all.

Daily Wonder : Pentatonic Flute & Ukulele

Faith : Imitation of Christ Book and listening using the audio from Hallow app. Reading through the New Testament and Psalms while listening to the dramatic audio that we have owned for years. Hallow has dramatic audio of the New Testament as well.

Additional Reading : We will be adding literature about the lives of Saints to accompany our history blocks and several other non-fiction and fiction to go with our science, language arts and economics blocks.

keep it simple, mama!

  1. We love waldorfish. Currently geometry all grades, weekly art dive deeper and I'm thinking about the physics and Chem. Are you likely to post about it here or insta? Would love to know how you find it

    1. Oh that's awesome! It's hard to find people that are using it and then talking about it! I will for sure be posting it on the blog and hope to have deleted my last social media soon.

    2. How are you liking Waldorfish? I have been meaning to purchase for years but have only used some of their art programs, and not the full courses. It looks so well done and will help us out for sure!

  2. How do you like Live Education vs Waldorf Essentials? If I am correct you have used WE before...

    1. Oh yes! I have used Waldorf Essentials several times! I love the layout and block scheduling in Waldorf Essentials. The only thing I didn't like is that I felt like I needed to add more to it than I do with Live Education. At first Live Education can seem like it's too much information, but you can just use what you want. I usually pre-read the story/lesson and just highlight the parts I want to tell him, and then use the Charles Kovacs book [I bought them from Amazon] for additional reading. I love the open and go lesson structure of Waldorf Essentials and I love their planner. I think it's more personal preference. I like the main lesson sample pages in Live Education a little more but love that the new editions of WE has color images! That definitely would have helped when we last used it. LE goes up to year 8 and WE goes up to year 6 as far as the laid out options go - you can see the difference in the samples from year 6 versus their year 7. They did help with high school and grades 7 & 8, but I needed a bit more.
